Becoming a Guest Writer on Option Central

Basic Guidelines

  • We accept a wide range of topics concerning Option Football - plays, drills, defending the Option, etc.  We will also accept Option Playbooks if provided in Playmaker Pro or Coach's Office format.
  • Material should be targeted at a particular level - Youth, High School or College.
  • The length should be around 2 pages, excluding illustrations. Longer articles and books may be submitted for publication as an eBook.
  • Articles should be submitted in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint - in Windows - readable format.   Alternatively, articles can be sent as PDF files, as Playmaker Pro documents, or as Coach's Office playbook files.

  • Illustrations should be drawn on the computer.  Illustrations may be in the body of the article or as a JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP or other form of computer file.   In some cases, we may accept hand drawn plays or illustrations if submitted by FAX. We also accept Playmaker Pro documents and Coach's Office Chalkboard and Playbook files.
  • For plays, try to be complete in terms of assignments, basic adjustments, personnel, terminology, etc... remember that people are reading your stuff with the intention of possibly using it. Your insights into why it's good and what to expect out of it are golden to someone who's new to what you're introducing.
  • Provide some information about the author, such as where you coach, how long you've been coaching, your title, record, etc...
  • If we elect to publish your article on Option Central, you will receive a free 1 Year Membership to the site.   Playbooks submitted in Playmaker Pro or Coach's Office format and published are also eligible for a free 1 year membership.
